@the45pror98, Can you possibly imagine the original vinyl 45RPM of this song possibly playing on the jukebox at The Boar’s 🐗 Nest owned by Boss Hogg in Hazzard County as well as the one down at Sugarfoot’s Barbecue in the Texas town of Arlen where propane salesman Hank Hill lives?
One of Elvis's favorite songs
I heard this song probably once or twice when I was a kid. Then I heard it again as an adult about 10 years ago on an oldies station. This is one awesome song!!!!!
This is Rita Abrams. Thank you for sending this to FB, and for all these (mostly) great comments!
I just listened to Dusty Springfield and Dionne Warwick version of this. Gary beats them both.
Amazing song. Still sounds great 65 years later.
I bought this in 1968 and thought it was just beautiful. Still do today at age 75. 1:01
Vocally, a Billy Davis Jr. solo record up to 2:10 . . . I was waiting to hear if any of the other members would've backed him, the way Johnny Maestro had been on the Brooklyn Bridge's.
This label shown on this video was a West Coast pressing; Bert-Co still used the 1962 2-eye label template, this time using red instead of orange.
Love this song
This is the original and best recording of this song. Instruments are just a drum, a guitar and a bass. The piano players couldn't make it on time.
A looked-over gem with Phil Spector type production. Sonny learned a lot from Spector .
🤷🏼♀️Burt can't sing very well
Time, simply timeless by the Legendary Everly Brothers.
The arrangement is taken from Michael Nesmith's version, but more streamlined for the hit parade. I like both versions, Nesmith's less commercial one and Lou's more immediate one.
Willie Mays, thanks for the memories. Mays played in more regular-season games in center field than anyone else in major-league baseball history (2,832). He hit 660 home runs. What a stud.
This is real puke🤢 Little Richard was to good an wild so the white pissant community hade to come up with this... The day rock died.
DC and friends (Mike Smith) is the best
LOVE this kick-ass rave up!!! ONLY Tom Petty's band did a worthwhile (live) remake years later.
British singer Cilla Black (“You’re My World”) sang this fabulously on a Beatles TV special in England. It’s here on You Tube.
The Bea Arthur Special. You have to hear it sung by Bea Arthur! Hilarious!
Great singer! Just discovered him via eBay 😊❤
✌😎
I've never listened to the original but this is better
This was one of the first 45 rpm records I owned as a kid. My mom (RIP) brought it home from a church rummage sale. Jimmy Dorsey’s alto saxophone soloing was terrific. Little did I know that he and his brother Tommy Dorsey had passed away within months of each other by 1957. This song is “so rare” indeed.
My favorite go to recording for over 60 years to have a good laugh!😂
who's here from the geico commercial from years ago 👇
Five years from his biggest hit and most anti-war single, WAR
This song brings back so many memories. I can't believe that she didn't become a major star. This song is perfection.
I loved this song from back in the 60s. It still sounds great.
" and a one and a two" how can you NOT like Calcutta~
This is best played on my Seeburg 222 jukebox....from 1959.....I first heard it on a jukebox at a White Castle at 8th and Broadway with my dad.
Also . . . this was one of a few singles issued in the 1968-69 period that, over the course of its release, was issued in both mono and stereo.
Great song. Such a special time for so many of us!!!!❤❤
I was born in the late fall of 1978. The closest thing person I have to an older sister gave me this .45 record. I still have it. It is a classic sad and tragic song!
Reminds me " A Theme From A Summer Place " ❤
Stones, Paint it Black
Rhody guys..Andreoli & Poncia! Formerly the Videls
A long time since I heard this....... simply beautiful

Ohhhhyeahhhhh... that's the stuff.
Lovely recording
This was my first 45 when I was about 6 or 7
0:58 do not look at my neighbors house
So generic it's almost genius lol. But it was released in 1960 before Beatles hit the scene.
Lyrics: Oh, what a crazy party, all the gang's here too The beat is really jumpin' like a kangaroo I'm full of cherry soda and potato chips But now I wanna get a taste of your sweet lips So dim, dim the lights (dim, dim the lights) Dim, dim the lights (dim, dim the lights) Turn down the lights I want some atmosphere The furniture was bouncin' round the room with glee And rockin' like a boat upon a stormy sea I dig the crazy flock that's runnin' wild tonight But still I haven't had a chance to hold you tight So dim, dim the lights (dim, dim the lights) Dim, dim the lights (dim, dim the lights) Tum down the lights I want some atmosphere Look at Annie's earrings bouncin' off the back Look at Susie kissin' and huggin' Jack Look at Nancy dancin' in her stockinged feet We're all goin' crazy with the mambo beat Well, everybody's really havin' lots of fun But honey, as for me, the night has just begun 'Cause now I wanna tell you things and hold you tight But how can I do it with the room so bright? So dim, dim the lights (dim, dim the lights) Dim, dim the lights (dim, dim the lights) Tum down the lights I want some atmosphere Well, everybody's really havin' lots of fun But honey, as for me, the night has just begun 'Cause now I wanna tell you things and hold you tight But how can I do it with the room so bright? So dim, dim the lights (dim, dim the lights) Dim, dim the lights (dim, dim the lights) Tum down the lights I want some atmosphere
Brilliant….remember it well 😁😁😁😁👍🏼
